Tsou people

The Tsou () are an indigenous people of central southern Taiwan. They are spread across three administrative entities of the Republic of China — Nantou County, Chiayi County and Kaohsiung City.
They are sometimes confused with the Thao people of Sun Moon Lake. In the year 2000 the Tsou numbered 6,169. This was approximately 1.6% of Taiwan's total Indigenous population, making them the seventh-largest tribal group.〔Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics, Executive Yuan, R.O.C. (DGBAS). National Statistics, Republic of China (Taiwan). (''Preliminary statistical analysis report of 2000 Population and Housing Census'' ). Excerpted from Table 28:Indigenous population distribution in Taiwan-Fukien Area. Accessed 8/30/06〕
